Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps is a set of eight visual patterns that correlate to specific cognitive processes. They are used across all grades and content areas to build the critical thinking, problem-solving, comprehension, and communication skills necessary for academic success in every domain.

Visual Learning Tools

We implement the innovative Thinking Maps program in every classroom. Thinking Maps utilizes eight visual patterns, each linked to a specific thinking process, like comparing, categorizing, or describing. This provides students with a consistent visual language to structure their thoughts and approach learning, no matter the subject or grade level.

Because Thinking Maps is used school-wide, students can easily transfer critical thinking skills between classes and continuously develop them year to year. The common visual patterns allow teachers to also reinforce the same cognitive processes across curricula.

We are proud to be featured in a case study on the achievements of schools using Thinking Maps. According to the study, our students demonstrate improved retention, reading comprehension, and organized thinking due to this program. Thinking Maps help unlock our students’ potential as independent learners and thinkers.
